World Malaria Day (Saturday 25th April) continues to prompt people and organizations across the world to come forward and say what they are doing to help fight malaria. As UK government aid agency DFID says, this is a good time to take stock.

World Malaria Day has been chosen by a maker of bed nets to announce that it is stepping up production.

Many Christian organizations (1, 2) are involved with World Malaria Day fund raising and awareness efforts.

More surprising than the participation of faith-based organizations is the interest shown by oil companies (1, 2). Many oil fields are in malaria-endemic countries and it is good business sense to try to keep workers and their families free from malaria. Even the Wall Street Journal, which focuses on matters economic, has published an article about World Malaria Day. CNN is also providing good coverage.

But it is not just the international media; from Ghana to Canada national and local newspapers are finding ways of drawing attention to World Malaria Day.

Celebrities have decided to get involved. In many cases they are celebrities who this blogger has not actually heard of but their support is welcome.

And the blogosphere is alive with World Malaria Day comments and opinions. If you see some good ones, share them with TropIKA.net - click Leave a Reply (below).
