The controversial executive director of the Global Forum for Health Research has stepped down only 10 months after taking up office.

Dr Anthony Mbewu was formerly President of South Africa’s Medical Research Council. He gave as his reason for resigning his wish to “re-unite” with his family. However, a report in the Sunday Times of South Africa claims Dr Mbewu’s departure follows “management issues” and allegations of misconduct.
